WHY DO I NEED AN RCD INSTALL?
Also known as a safety switch, a Residual Current Device’s (RCD) role is to detect faults within an electrical socket and prevent severe electrical shocks from occurring – It’s essentially a life saving device within your home or commercial office that’s typically located on switchboard. If you have a faulty appliance and a faulty RCD, it may not trigger within the required time which can result in extremely harmful or fatal electric shocks. RCD’s are designed to disconnect quickly enough to protect from the harm caused by such shocks.
What causes an imbalance in a circuit? There are several reason why your safety switch has tripped:
Overloaded power outlets or power boards
Faults in the wiring
An appliance fault such as a fridge, oven, toaster etc.
Defective or faulty safety switch
